Research suggests that men with low testosterone face a high risk of serious illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. With the drastic drop in production of testosterone, a range of complications can occur.

Other causes of low testosterone or low T may include obesity, infections, diabetes, chronic kidney or heart disease, or certain hormonal changes in the body. The hormone influences bone density, fat distribution, and red blood cell production in men.

Testosterone peaks in the beginning of adulthood and the hormone levels start dropping once you reach 30 years of age. The initial symptoms may be confused as being part of the natural aging process.

 

Low Testosterone Symptoms

Testosterone therapy can protect men with low T against serious medical problems, such as osteoporosis, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Low T is diagnosed when testosterone levels are as low as 300 nanograms per deciliter. If the decline in testosterone is greater than it should, a man may experience a range of symptoms.

  • Decreased energy – Severe fatigue sets in and the affected man constantly experiences a loss in drive and initiative.
  • Low sex drive – A testosterone deficiency causes libido and orgasm problems. Less intense sexual response is one of the top low testosterone symptoms.
  • Unable to maintain firm erections – Achieving erections may or may not be possible for intercourse
  • Mood changes and pessimism – Men with decreasing testosterone levels feel less optimistic than they used to be, often feeling down or blue. Such men are more likely to be affected with clinical depression.

  • Genital numbness – A man with low T doesn’t get excited at the touch of his genital organs by their sexual partner.
  • Fatigue – Affected men feel completely depleted of energy.
  • Irritability – The affected person may feel grouchy and irritable.
  • Decreased height – Some men feel as if they are shrinking or losing height. This could be due to loss of bone strength a result of decline in testosterone.
  • Reduced muscle mass – Men with low T find it difficult to build muscle mass, with shrinkage in arms and legs. You may start to feel gradual loss of strength and endurance.
  • Shrinkage – Low t can cause testicles to shrink, which may feel softer than normal.
  • Increase in body fat –Testosterone deficiency often results in increased body fat, which may be apparent in the form of man boobs.
  • Other health conditions – Are you experiencing symptoms of thyroid, type 2 diabetes, or obesity? Well this could be due to a reduction in testosterone levels.
