How Does It Work?
This procedure involves inserting a prosthetic silicone sheath along the shaft of the penis. The procedure takes between forty-five minutes and one hour, after some recovery time you can usually leave the same day. You’ll need to come back for follow-up appointment for three days after the procedure where we check your progress. This means that you can be back to work within 5 days and won’t need to take much leave.
The procedure itself involves general anesthesia so you won’t be aware of anything while it happens. A small incision is made above the base of the penis in the public area, and a penile implant is inserted along the shaft. The physician will select an implant that matches your size and will completely customize the procedure to your specific needs. This can increase the length of the penis as well as the girth too.
Does It Hurt & Are There Side Effects?
We choose to use Penuma implants for our procedures for several reasons, one of which is the minimal discomfort involved for patients. It involves a shorter surgery time and lower levels of pain and discomfort too. The discomfort patients feel can vary from person to person and ranges from mild to moderate. However, this is tightly controlled through the use of prescription pain medications to minimize discomfort.
You may notice swelling in the first two weeks following surgery but this is normal and anticipated. You should abstain from sexual intercourse for 6 weeks afterward and may feel some pain with an erect penis. Any discomfort can be managed by pain medication.
Following the procedure, girth in both the flaccid and erect state can increase. The length of the penis when flaccid can also be noticeably increased, however, it can take 6-8 months (or longer) for the full erect length to be achieved.
Like any medical procedure, there are potential side effects. On the rare occasions where side effects have occurred after this procedure, they have been mostly due to patient non-compliance with the instructions that we have provided. Minor side effects and complications that have been linked with the procedure include:

What Size of Increase Do Patients See?

In a recently published journal article, our founder and lead surgeon (Dr. Elist) along with several colleagues detailed the scientific evidence behind the procedure.
The study was designed to evaluate the silicone sleeve penile implant that is used in the cosmetic correction of a flaccid penis. It involved the evaluation of 400 patients over a 5-year period, making it one of the largest studies of its kind on the subject. Questionnaires were used to gather feedback from patients on their satisfaction and experiences following the penile augmentation surgery. These included ratings on self-esteem, self-confidence, and satisfaction that were conducted 6-8 weeks after the procedure. They were also repeated 2-6 years later as it can take several months to achieve maximal penis girth and length as it stretches.
The results were overwhelmingly positive making it one of the best options of all the penis enlargement surgeries. Of the 400 patients who took part in the study:
- Implantation of the Penuma device increased the average penis circumference from 8.5cm to 13.4cm, which is an impressive 56.7% improvement.
- More than 4 out of 5 patients (83%) reported mental health improvements in self-confidence and self-esteem in the 6-8 weeks following the procedure.
- After 2-6 years, an incredible 72% of the patients remained improved in these areas which is especially impressive since it’s typical for these numbers to decrease more significantly with time.
- Over 4 out of 5 patients (81%) reported their levels of satisfaction as ‘high’ or ‘very high’ which demonstrates the fulfillment that this procedure delivers in terms of men’s sexual and mental health.
Another notable result was the low level of postoperative complications and adverse effects (3%). None of the patients reported any change in sexual functions, erections, or ejaculation. The fact that the likelihood of any adverse effects is minimal and entirely manageable should be reassuring for those who are concerned by the idea of surgery.

Drugs & Pills

However, drugs are not a long-term solution. Their effects typically wear off within a few hours, after which the penis returns to its flaccid state. This means that people need to continually purchase and restock their supply in order to use it on a regular basis. Some people find that consuming pills isn’t a practical option since it needs to be taken in advance. This sometimes removes the spontaneity of sex or spoils the moment.
It’s also important to note that drugs will not increase penis size beyond its erect maximum. Until they invent tablets that change DNA, this will not be a viable long-term option. Stretching Exercises & Vacuum Devices
Some men try stretching exercises or using a vacuum device to extend the length of their penis. Stretching involves pulling on the length of the penis for an extended amount of time and repeated period. Vacuum devices are designed to force greater blood volume to increase size. However, there is little evidence that either method is effective. Both can cause discomfort, be detrimental to penis health, and require a significant and continual investment of time.
