Benefits of Penile Enlargement Surgery

People choose to have this type of surgery for a wide variety of reasons. Some patients want to increase the size of their penis to improve their sex life. Others do it as a way of boosting their self-confidence which then has knock-on benefits in other areas of their life. For some people, it is a medical necessity and for others, it is a form of cosmetic surgery.

Whatever reason you have for wanting penile enlargement surgery, the key benefit is that it can provide results. It can increase the size of your penis in terms of both flaccid length and girth, creating a proportional result that looks perfectly natural. You won’t need to worry about using complicated stretching instruments. Individual results may vary.

What Kind of Results Can You Expect?

Penile enlargement surgery before and after photos will give you a good idea of the kind of results that you may see. Our patients typically see an increase of around 1 to 2 inches in girth (erect and flaccid) and length (flaccid only); however, results can vary by individual. The penile enlargement implant is personalized by our experienced physicians to your individual size. This creates a natural-looking result in both the flaccid and erect states.

If you would like to increase the size of your penis, then surgical treatments offer a solution. The procedure can increase the length and girth of the penis in the flaccid state as well as the girth in the erect state. For the final erect length to be observed, it may take 6-8 months (or longer) as it takes time for the skin to stretch sufficiently. This allows the penis to fully move out of the pubic area so that it can reach its full length.

What Does it Involve?

Penis enlargement surgery happens in a certified outpatient surgery center and takes between 45 minutes and one hour. You can return home or to your hotel the same day, but you will need to attend the office for a follow-up appointment for three days after the procedure. This means you can take a minimal amount of time off work or away from other activities. It won’t disrupt your lifestyle in the way that other surgical procedures can so that you can get back to your normal routine almost immediately.

The procedure happens under general anesthesia so that you are not awake while it takes place. The discomfort patients feel can vary from person to person and ranges from mild to moderate. This is tightly controlled through the use of prescription pain medications to minimize any discomfort.

The procedure involves the insertion of an implant made from medical-grade silicone. A small incision is made in the scrotal area (no incisions are made on the penis). The silicone device is then inserted along your shaft, which gently stretches the skin. This doesn’t affect the suspensory ligament, which supports the penis when erect and holds it close to the pubic bone. The result is a penis that looks and feels bigger.

During the first two weeks after the surgery, you may notice swelling, but this is normal and anticipated. There may be some bruising, and you may experience pain with erections. This can also be controlled by using medication to minimize pain. The results tend to be a larger flaccid penis in terms of both length and girth. Erect length gains can take 6-8 months (or longer) for the full erect length to be achieved.

Who is the Surgery Suitable For?

Penile enlargement surgery is suitable for a wide range of patients and conditions. If you suffer from small penis syndrome, curved penis, buried penis, or have sustained a penile injury or trauma, then the procedure can help to increase penis size. Some people opt for penis enlargement for personal or aesthetic reasons rather than medical, so it is also available as a cosmetic surgery.

How Do Penuma Enlargement Implants Compare with Other Alternatives?

We use Penuma implants for our penile enlargement procedures, which have been successfully used by thousands of patients across the country. There are multiple reasons that we choose Penuma over other enlargement techniques such as Alloderm, Dermal Grafts, Fat Injections, and Dermal Injectables. Unlike these alternatives it is designed specifically for the penis, has been presented at several academic conferences, has a strong track record over many years, and is US patented. It involves a shorter surgery time (45-60 minutes) and likely lower levels of pain and discomfort. The implant can be removed if necessary and allows you to return to work in as little as 3 days (as opposed to 5-7 days with other procedures). Perhaps most crucially, the Penuma procedure can achieve an increase in length and girth with just one operation.

One alternative that has been suggested by some is penile traction for straightening or lengthening the penis. It involves using an instrument to ‘stretch’ the penis by either pulling or pushing it but can be quite uncomfortable. These devices require years of consistent use, and there is little scientific evidence to support their usage. They are designed to increase penis length, but do not influence girth. Some men use penis pumps to provide a temporary increase in size; however, at best, this likely only lasts for 1-2 hours. Once blood flow and water retention rebalance themselves, the penis quickly returns to normal size.

Male enhancement medications designed for erectile dysfunction are sometimes used to increase penis size though they are not indicated for such use. They induce an erect penis prior to sexual intercourse and have a temporary effect that is especially beneficial for older men. However, these types of medication encourage blood flow to cause an erection and do not increase penis size over the long-term.

Finally, method such as fillers, fat injections, Alloderm, and others can cause severe damage to the penile skin. Many patients who have tried these methods have come to our clinic to attempt to have the materials removed, often after they have formed nodules and other skin abnormalities. Most physicians will avoid the use of these materials for penile enhancement.
